The closest to your own skin, but better

OXYGENETICS OXYGENATING FOUNDATION, £45

Even though I’m a beauty editor and I should probably know all these indie brands as part of me being good at my job, it was my friend Joely who turned me onto Oxygenetics.

Have you seen Joely? God she is gorgeous. She looks like she could be immortalised as a Rodin sculpture, but her skin is the total opposite of plaster cast, or sand cast or whatever it is Rodin used (there is a compliment in there somewhere Joels).

Her skin is plump and dewy and flawless and glowy, everything you read on a skincare ad. ‘Oh whatever babes, it’s that Oxygenetics, have you used it yet?’ She called it in for me (that is the biggest perk of working on a beauty desk - try before you buy), and she was so right.

So my skin is a bit reactive, hormonal, sensitive (read about it here), so I always use mineral foundation to let it breathe. Anything non-comedogenic - or non pore blocking basically. Thus, I always get really nervous trying anything new. But I read up on it and yes, it’s breathable. It has an antibacterial aloe base which makes it heal your skin while you wear it too. SOLD, pass it over.

It goes on sheer, you don’t need a lot, and honestly, every time I put it on I stand by a natural source of light and marvel at the natural glow radiating from my cheekbones. It’s bloody amazing. You can build it, but I don’t find I need to. The sheer coverage means it genuinely looks like my skin, but way waaay better.

Quick fix, good skin in a bottle. I mean...
