Let’s  be honest, I could tell you anything about this wonder stick and you’d want it more because it’s Chanel, right? You wouldn’t be wrong either, lately Chanel have launched barn-stormer after barn-stormer in the makeup stakes. It’s seriously impressive, even without the double C’s.

What is Baume Essentiel though? Other than an opportunity to embarrass yourself with the pronunciation. It is a stick of wonder for your makeup bag, that’s what. An essential one, I would go so far to say. I now have it in all the iterations, (sculpting, transparent, rosee and golden light), but it is this, transparent, that is my must have. 

The secret is in the subtlety. A moisturising, radiating balm that you dab on, swipe on, tap on, whatever, it imparts this gentle glow that just looks like excellent young skin. YOUNG skin. Pre-baby skin, 8 hour sleep skin, have I sold you yet? It’s true. 

My friend Nat works for the Chanel press office (I know, lucky me eh?), and literally every time I see her I say the same thing. You look so fresh! ‘Baume’, she says. ‘Oh yes, of course, I say.
